Rocket Lab down 50% from highs due to Neutron delays and SpaceX IPO

Rocket Lab (RKLB) has been struggling lately, dropping over 50% from its 52-week high of $151. The selloff started around June when SpaceX went public, drawing away a lot of space sector investment. The company is also dealing with delays to its larger Neutron rocket. So far, growth has come from their smaller Electron rocket, which has 97 successful launches but only a 300 kg payload capacity. Neutron can carry 13,000 kg and is expected to significantly improve their margins. Financially, Rocket Lab generated $770 million in revenue over the last 12 months but still had $165 million in losses. The stock is up just 6% this year as the market waits for a successful Neutron launch to push them toward profitability.

The selloff makes the setup interesting, but Neutron execution is still the big catalyst. A successful launch could change the story pretty quickly.
