Bitcoin looks like the safest crypto play for the 2026 midterms
Bitcoin is looking like the safest crypto bet leading up to the 2026 midterms. The Trump administration has designated it as a strategic reserve asset, and Trump allies recently launched American Bitcoin Corp (ABTC).
Wall Street is also pushing it. The CFTC approved BTC perpetual futures in May, and BlackRock (BLK) is now recommending a 1% to 2% portfolio allocation. Since BTC is widely recognized as a commodity, it avoids the regulatory issues still dragging down altcoins like ETH, XRP, and HYPE.

Bitcoin still looks like the cleaner crypto bet here. The stronger regulatory position and institutional adoption give it an edge over many altcoins.

Bitcoin has a stronger institutional setup, but crypto sentiment can still swing pretty quickly when there’s uncertainty around regulation and the broader market

Bitcoin’s regulatory clarity definitely gives it an edge, but I’d still expect plenty of volatility heading into the midterms.

bigger advantage for Bitcoin is how established the institutional demand has become, which could help it hold up better even when volatility picks up
