CRSP and VKTX upcoming catalysts

CRISPR Therapeutics (CRSP) is expected to finally start booking real revenue from its Casgevy treatment next year. The drug was approved in 2023, but the custom treatment takes about a year per patient, so revenue recognition is delayed. Vertex (VRTX) saw Casgevy revenue jump to $76M last quarter. Analysts think CRSP's reported revenue will grow from $40M this year to $156M next year. Viking Therapeutics (VKTX) is making progress on their GLP-1 weight-loss drug, VK2735. They want it to be a monthly maintenance injection rather than the weekly shots required by Eli Lilly (LLY) and Novo Nordisk (NVO). They are also starting late-stage trials for a pill version later this year. The stock has a consensus price target around $93.

CRSP’s revenue ramp could be a major catalyst, but execution and patient adoption will determine how meaningful Casgevy becomes commercially.
