QBTS jumps 9% after announcing 2026 conference, but financials still look weak
D-Wave Quantum (QBTS) stock jumped 9% today after announcing they will host a user conference in Seoul in 2026.
The price movement seems like an overreaction. The company is unprofitable and analysts expect them to keep losing money through at least 2030. They currently have $546 million in the bank, but are forecast to burn through over $560 million in the next five years.
Conferences are good for PR, but they don't replace actual profits.

A conference can boost attention, but investors will probably want to see real revenue growth and a clearer path to profitability.

More attention is helpful, but the real catalyst would be seeing that interest translate into stronger revenue growth and a clearer path to sustainable profitability
