IonQ Q2 earnings show revenue growth but heavy operating losses
IonQ (IONQ) dropped about 31% in July due to insider selling and a broader pullback in tech stocks, but it's rebounding after their Q2 earnings.
They reported $80M in revenue last quarter but had a $337M operating loss. They currently sit on $3B in cash, though they are burning through $570M in free cash flow and have doubled their share count over the last three years to raise that capital.
At a $17B market cap and a forward P/S of 61, it's still an expensive stock for a business that is years away from true profitability.

IonQ’s revenue growth is encouraging, but the huge operating losses, cash burn, and dilution make the valuation a major risk until quantum computing starts producing more meaningful profits.

it's great to see revenue growth at IonQ, but that valuation is hard to wrap my head around. quantum computing is exciting but the financial path still looks a bit rocky.
