Amazon bought about 850k shares of IonQ back in Q2 2025, but recent 13F filings show they liquidated the entire position by Q1 2026. The initial investment was likely just a way to strengthen ties for AWS Braket, their quantum cloud service, while Amazon develops its own custom quantum chip called Ocelot. The sell-off probably won't hurt IonQ much since the AWS partnership is still active and the original stake was pretty small. It just looks like Amazon was using a temporary financial position to support a commercial cloud contract.
