Supermicro still hasn't found a new CFO after 14 months of searching
Back in December 2024, Supermicro said they would immediately look for a new CFO to replace David Weigand following an investigation sparked by EY's resignation. It has been over 14 months and four quarters since then, but Weigand is still in the role.
Executive recruiters suggest the job is difficult to fill because of the company's history with accounting allegations and the previous auditor resignation. One recruiter described the position as "poison" for a career and said taking it is like "touching lightning."
The company needs someone who can handle the governance side to reassure investors while also managing their AI infrastructure growth, which is a hard mix to find. Supermicro did not provide a specific update on the search, only stating that they are continuing to look for senior executives.
