IAMGOLD reserves down 7%, resources up 16% in annual update
IAMGOLD released their year-end reserve and resource statement. Proven and Probable reserves dropped 7% to 9.9 million ounces, largely due to depletion at Côté and Essakane. Basically, they mined a good chunk of it out.
On the positive side, Measured and Indicated resources increased 16% to 31 million ounces. This was driven by converting resources at Gosselin and adding deposits from the Northern Superior deal. They also bumped up their gold price assumptions, using $2,000 per ounce for reserves at Westwood and Essakane, and $1,700 for Côté.
Management noted that 80% of their resources are now in Canada. They are also planning a $24 million exploration program at the Nelligan complex this year.
