Firefly Aerospace (FLY) announced they are moving their Alpha rocket to a Block II configuration. The goal is to improve reliability and streamline production for national security and commercial demands. Flight 7 is launching in the coming weeks to test some subsystems, while Flight 8 will be the first full Block II flight. The upgrade increases the rocket length to 104 feet and switches to in-house batteries and avionics rather than off-the-shelf parts.
