Broadcom up and Marvell down on Microsoft AI chip rumors
Broadcom shares rose nearly 4% today after a report that Microsoft might switch its custom AI chip business from Marvell to Broadcom. Marvell dropped over 7% on the news. It is just a rumor for now, and a JPMorgan analyst actually disputed it, saying the Marvell contract is still solid. Broadcom is trading at a high valuation of 97 times earnings, so buying on this unconfirmed news carries some risk.

Broadcom caught a nice pop and got smacked, all off a rumor that may not even be real. Wild how fast the market jumps. Until Microsoft actually says something, this feels like classic “buy the rumor, whiplash later” territory.
