Grocery shopping is getting ridiculous

I went to grab a few things this week and somehow spent more than I expected without even buying anything special. It made me think about how much people are paying attention to everyday prices now, even when they’re not necessarily changing where they shop.

That’s partly why I find interesting. People still need groceries and household basics, but I wonder how much of the appeal comes from shoppers actively choosing Walmart versus simply trying to stretch their budgets a little further

Yeah, grocery prices are still kinda wild. Walmart definitely benefits when people are trying to stretch their dollars, but I think shoppers are getting way more price-conscious overall.

That’s how I see it too. Walmart can benefit when people trade down, but being more price conscious doesn’t automatically mean every shopper switches to Walmart.

I think it’s probably a mix of both. Walmart benefits when shoppers look for value, but keeping them loyal will depend on whether its prices continue to feel affordable as everyday costs rise.

I am also seeing alot of people moving over to Costco. The membership cost is still a friction that makes it not as open as walmart but the amount of crazy cheap deals seen on the internet at costco has made alot of people reconsider especially families who love bulk deals.
