Alternative quantum computing plays: QNT, IBM, and NVDA
Alternative quantum computing plays: QNT, IBM, and NVDA
Everyone usually focuses on IonQ and Rigetti for quantum computing, but there are a few other ways to get exposure to the sector right now.
**Quantinuum (QNT)**
They spun out of Honeywell and IPO'd in June. They use trapped-ion tech, which generally has lower error rates. Honeywell still holds 48% voting power. The stock is still going through post-IPO price discovery.
**IBM (IBM)**
They are putting $10 billion into a quantum roadmap targeting 2029 and hit a major cryogenic milestone in August. The appeal here is that their legacy software and consulting businesses fund the R&D, making it less risky than a startup that needs quantum revenue today.
**Nvidia (NVDA)**
This is the infrastructure play. They don't build quantum processors, but their NVQLink connects quantum hardware directly to GPU supercomputers. They are positioned to win regardless of which company ends up making the best quantum chip.

Quantum computing offers exciting long-term potential, but commercial adoption may take time. Diversifying across hardware, infrastructure, and established tech companies could help balance the risk.
