Wall Street Had a Huge Run, But Can It Last?
Wall Street banks have been on a serious run, but I’m curious how they’ll handle what comes next. Big banks had a blockbuster first half of 2026, fueled by trading, dealmaking and AI-related financing. But now, rising interest rates are putting pressure on the outlook, and investors want to know if that momentum can last. I’m watching , , and closely because higher rates could change the game for bank profits and deal activity. I’m not counting the banks out, but I want to see how they handle this next test. Do you think bank stocks can keep climbing, or are higher rates about to slow things down?
Bank stocks have had a strong run, but I think sustaining that momentum will depend on how well they manage higher rates and keep dealmaking active.
I am keeping a close eye on Citigroup and Bank of America as well. Hopefully the deal flow stays steady enough to keep the momentum going through the rest of the year.
Higher rates aren’t necessarily bad for banks if they can earn more on loans and manage funding costs. The bigger risk may be a slowdown in lending and dealmaking.
It is interesting to watch how Goldman Sachs handles the deal flow lately since the market environment feels so unpredictable right now.
The strong first-half results are encouraging, but higher rates could make it harder to sustain the same momentum. I’d be watching whether dealmaking and trading activity can remain strong if borrowing costs stay elevated.
It is interesting to watch Goldman Sachs navigate these shifting rates. I am curious if their dealmaking pipeline is strong enough to offset the higher borrowing costs.
