ABBV and MDT looking like solid dividend holds right now
ABBV and MDT looking like solid dividend holds right now
Even with the 10-year Treasury yielding 5.3%, some blue chip dividend stocks are still worth looking at instead of just sitting in fixed-income options.
AbbVie (ABBV) has a 2.6% forward yield and just hit 53 years of dividend hikes. They lost their Humira patent last year, but they've been buying up companies like Allergan and ImmunoGen to make up for it. Their newer drugs are driving growth, and analysts expect 21% EPS growth from 2025 to 2028. It's trading at 16x forward earnings right now.
Medtronic (MDT) is paying a 3.3% yield and is almost at 50 straight years of dividend hikes. They've had some supply chain and cost issues, but they spun off their diabetes unit (MMED) to focus on their cardiovascular and neuroscience divisions. Revenue grew 5.8% last fiscal year, and it trades around 18x earnings.
Neither is super exciting, but both seem like safe spots to park cash and collect passive income.

Both look interesting for income-focused investors. The dividend histories are solid, but future growth and valuation still matter at these levels.
