Comparing LLY and PFE as dividend stocks

Comparing LLY and PFE as dividend stocks

Comparing Eli Lilly and Pfizer for dividend investing. LLY's yield is pretty low at 0.6%, but they've been raising their payout about 15% a year thanks to their GLP-1 drug profits. Their quarterly dividend went from $0.85 to $1.73 over the last five years. PFE offers a much higher 6.2% yield. The stock is down 37% over five years, but the dividend seems covered. They generated $11B in free cash flow over the last 12 months, which is enough to cover the $9.8B they paid out in dividends. Overall, LLY looks better if you want long-term growth, and PFE makes more sense if you just want a high yield right now.

LLY is more about dividend growth, while PFE is more about current income. Pretty different setups depending on whether you prioritize growth or yield.

LLY’s appeal is more tied to growth and future dividend potential, while PFE offers a much different income profile, so the tradeoff is pretty clear
