Pfizer beat Q2 estimates and raised revenue guidance
Pfizer's Q2 earnings came in better than expected. Revenue grew 3% to $15 billion, beating the $14.4 billion estimate. Adjusted EPS was $0.77, which also beat the $0.68 expected.
They raised the lower end of their full-year revenue guidance, now projecting between $60.5 billion and $62.5 billion. EPS guidance stayed the same at $2.80 to $3.00.
Their blood thinner Eliquis was a big driver, with sales up 19% from last year. That drug is hitting a patent cliff soon, so Pfizer has been leaning into acquisitions to build up their pipeline and offset future generic competition.
On the regulatory side, the EU validated their application for a new Lyme disease treatment, and the FDA approved their updated COVID vaccine. The stock went up 14% last month on all this news.

Strong quarter and guidance raise, but Eliquis’ patent cliff makes Pfizer’s pipeline execution the bigger story from here.

Pfizer’s near term results look encouraging, but replacing Eliquis revenue will really test how strong the pipeline is.
