Q2 earnings for quantum computing: IonQ and Quantinuum pulling ahead

Quantum computing Q2 earnings are out and it looks like IonQ and Quantinuum are separating from the pack. Both use a trapped-ion approach which is giving them much higher accuracy rates than competitors. IonQ's revenue jumped 287% to $80.1 million, beating the $66.4 million estimate. About 60% of that is from commercial customers, showing they are moving beyond just government lab experiments. Their order backlog grew to $485 million and they raised their full-year guidance. Quantinuum saw revenue grow 279% to $8 million. The main highlight from their report was a new strategic partnership to integrate their systems into Oracle's cloud infrastructure. Other players like Infleqtion, D-Wave, and Rigetti posted mixed results. D-Wave and Rigetti both have fast systems, but they trail significantly in accuracy compared to the leaders. Based on the revenue and backlogs, accuracy is proving more important than speed right now.
