Trump pressures Exxon and Chevron to cut gas prices after strong Q2 earnings

Trump called out ExxonMobil and Chevron on Monday, saying they are making too much money from high fuel prices. He wants them to cut prices at the pump, which are currently averaging around $4.10 nationwide. The comments come right after several oil companies reported strong Q2 earnings due to high crude prices from the ongoing conflict in Iran. Chevron posted its highest quarterly earnings in at least six years, and Valero reported its strongest profit since 2022. An industry spokesperson responded that current prices are driven by global supply and shipping uncertainties, not by any single company.

calling out Exxon like this is interesting but global shipping issues are usually what set the prices. let's see if this changes anything at the stations.
