Thoughts on O, VZ, and ET for a dividend portfolio

Came across a breakdown of three dividend stocks - Realty Income (O), Verizon (VZ), and Energy Transfer (ET). O is yielding about 5.2% and pays out monthly. They have raised their dividend for 115 quarters straight and recently started a $6 billion data center joint venture. VZ is sitting at a 5.7% yield. Their cash flow is pretty healthy, generating $18.4 billion in the first half of the year which comfortably covered capex and dividends. They are expected to raise their dividend again this month. ET is the highest yielder at 6.4%. It is an MLP so you have to deal with K-1 tax forms, but their cash flow covers distributions well. They are putting about $5.6 billion into natural gas and oil pipeline expansions this year. It seems like a decent mix for sector diversification across real estate, telecom, and energy to balance out the specific risks of each industry.

I like the mix. O brings real estate, VZ adds steady cash flow, and ET gives you higher-yield energy exposure. Different sectors, so the income stream feels more balanced.

Yeah, I like that combination too. Realty Income brings the real estate income, Verizon adds a more defensive cash flow profile, and Energy Transfer gives the portfolio some energy exposure, so it’s a pretty nice mix.

Solid mix of yield and sector diversification, though ET’s tax complexity is worth noting.

Yeah, that’s the one drawback I’d keep in mind. Energy Transfer’s partnership structure means the K 1 tax paperwork can add some extra complexity, even if the income profile is attractive.
