America’s Credit Card Problem Is Getting Worse
U.S. credit card debt has climbed to around $1.26 trillion, while late-stage delinquencies remain near levels not seen in years.
With high interest rates and rising everyday costs still pressuring households, the consumer is starting to look like a bigger risk for the economy.
Could weaker consumers become the next major problem for , and ?

A weakening consumer could become a bigger headwind for banks and retailers. Rising delinquencies are definitely something to watch.

Yeah, that’s something I’d keep an eye on too. Consumer loan delinquencies are still elevated, although the latest bank data actually showed a slight improvement, so the bigger question is whether that holds if household budgets get tighter.
