Consumer staples offering better dividend yields than the S&P 500
The S&P 500 average yield is sitting around 1.1% right now, but some major consumer staples are offering better returns despite weak consumer spending.
**Coca-Cola (KO)** has a 2.4% yield and has raised dividends for 64 years. Their Q2 global volume rose 5% and margins climbed over 28% as they shift to a capital-light model.
**PepsiCo (PEP)** is yielding about 4.2% with 54 years of increases. Their first half revenue went up nearly 7%, largely helped by international sales and sugar-free options.
**Procter & Gamble (PG)** yields about 3% with 70 years of dividend increases. They managed to counter higher raw material costs with $2.8 billion in productivity savings, and saw organic sales growth across 90% of their product categories last quarter.
