Rivian's robotics spin-off is now valued at $3.4 billion

Rivian spun out its robotics arm, Mind Robotics, last year and it just hit a $3.4 billion valuation after a new $400 million funding round. Rivian still retains a 38% stake in the company. They are currently using these industrial robots in their own plants to cut down EV production costs and handle labor shortages. The longer-term plan is to sell these systems to other manufacturers. They mentioned these are standard industrial robots rather than humanoid ones, so they aren't competing directly with Tesla's robotics projects. This stake could be a helpful asset down the road since Rivian's core EV business is still burning through cash.

always nice to see more innovation from rivian. hopefully this helps them handle those labor issues in the plants.
