Federal healthcare spending projected to hit $3T. Summary of three stock picks.
Federal healthcare spending is expected to grow from $2 trillion to over $3 trillion in the next decade. This is driven by GLP-1 weight loss drugs, costly specialty medicines, and workforce shortages. Here is a summary of three stocks mentioned as potential plays.
Pfizer (PFE) is seeing lower COVID vaccine demand but has cancer and weight loss drugs in development. It trades at a forward P/E of 9.0 with a 6.5% dividend yield.
Intuitive Surgical (ISRG) trades at a forward P/E of 44. They make expensive robotic surgery systems, but 77% of their revenue is recurring from accessories and servicing.
Eli Lilly (LLY) is growing off its GLP-1 drugs like Mounjaro and Zepbound. Forward P/E is 29. Q1 revenue was up 56% year over year, and they are working on an oral GLP-1 pill.

i've always been impressed by the business model at intuitive surgical. having that much recurring revenue makes a huge difference when the economy gets a bit shaky.
