Rocket Lab (RKLB) up 10.5% after NASA announces $20B moon base plan
Rocket Lab (RKLB) up 10.5% after NASA announces $20B moon base plan
Rocket Lab (RKLB) stock jumped 10.5% today. The move comes after NASA announced a $20 billion plan to build a semi-permanent moon base by 2032.
Rocket Lab wasn't officially named in the announcement, but the plan involves sending 30 robotic cargo landers to the moon. SpaceX currently handles these flights, but Rocket Lab's new Neutron rocket is set to launch later this year. The market seems to be betting that NASA will use Neutron to diversify its contractors for these cargo runs. The broader exploration vision is also lifting general sentiment for space stocks.

RKLB finally getting noticed. Think Neutron could actually steal some lunar contracts from SpaceX?

Speculative move, but the logic makes sense. If NASA expands contractors beyond SpaceX, RKLB could be well positioned with Neutron, key will be execution and actual contract wins.
