Fed holds rates at 3.5%, Dow drops 768 points, Micron beats earnings
The Fed kept interest rates at 3.5% to 3.75% today. Powell mentioned that progress on cooling prices has stalled. The PPI jumped 0.7%, pushing the Dow down 768 points as inflation worries continue. Oil is also up near $107 a barrel due to Middle East tensions.
Micron had a strong earnings beat. They posted $23.86 billion in revenue compared to the $20.07 billion expected. Their high bandwidth memory capacity for 2026 is totally sold out, and they bumped their dividend by 30%. Stock was up over 4% after hours.
In other news, Meta is shutting down Horizon Worlds for Quest VR to focus on generative AI, moving away from their previous metaverse plans. They are also paying creators up to $3k a month to pull them from TikTok and YouTube.
