Volkswagen's Lamborghini division is scrapping plans for its "Lanzador" EV. CEO Stephan Winkelmann told the Sunday Times that the market isn't ready and customer interest is practically zero. He called it "financially irresponsible" to push pure EVs right now. Instead, they are focusing on plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). The next generation Urus set for 2029 will be a hybrid rather than the originally planned full EV. The main issue is that luxury buyers want the sound and emotion of combustion engines. Ferrari is taking the opposite bet and still plans to debut their EV in May.
