IonQ (IONQ) and Rigetti (RGTI) are taking different approaches to the quantum computing market. IonQ uses a trapped-ion approach that focuses on computing accuracy, which is the main roadblock for the industry right now. Rigetti uses a superconducting method that offers faster processing, but they face direct competition from larger tech companies using the exact same approach. Looking at Q4 financials, IonQ brought in $61.9 million in revenue with a $229 million operating loss. Rigetti had $1.9 million in revenue and a $22.6 million loss. Despite the larger operating loss, IonQ's current lead in accuracy makes it easier for them to secure ongoing funding. IonQ looks like the safer pick between the two until Rigetti can show more progress with their tech.
