Bill Gurley warns that AI is disrupting the traditional white-collar career path
Bill Gurley from Benchmark Capital thinks the standard advice of going to an elite school for a guaranteed safe job is dead. He said on a podcast that AI is disrupting white-collar roles like lawyers and software engineers much faster than expected. He believes the people most at risk are the ones sitting idly or acting like cogs in a machine without real purpose.
His advice is to either craft a unique career path or become the most AI-aware person in your current job. If you can't switch sectors, he suggests using the tech as jet fuel to make yourself indispensable.
LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky and Nvidia's Jensen Huang shared similar views. Roslansky thinks adaptability is now more important than Ivy League degrees. Huang repeated his point that you won't lose your job to AI, but to someone who uses AI.
