Google down 5% this week on massive CapEx plans and bond issuance
Google dropped 5.29% this week, closing around $306. The whole Mag 7 group is now negative year-to-date. The main driver is the heavy spending guidance - they're projecting $175-185 billion in CapEx for 2026 for AI infrastructure. They issued $20 billion in bonds to help fund this and announced a $10 billion data center in Kansas City. On the regulatory front, the EU approved the $32B Wiz acquisition, but they're facing new antitrust complaints regarding AI Overviews. Market seems worried about the cash burn required to keep up with Microsoft and Amazon.

that capex number for google is really huge, but i guess they have no choice if they want to lead in ai. i wonder if the market will be more patient once we see some returns.
