White House adviser says time is running out for crypto legislation
A White House adviser warned that the window to pass the Clarity Act is closing as the political calendar shifts to midterms. The bill is designed to draw lines between SEC and CFTC oversight for digital assets but is stalled in the Senate Banking Committee. Traditional banks are reportedly worried about deposit flight if stablecoins aren't regulated strictly. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong mentioned on their Feb 12 call that he is optimistic something passes in the next few months. The company reported a $667m net loss recently, which they partly blamed on regulatory uncertainty.
