Article suggests Microsoft and IBM are safer quantum plays than IonQ
McKinsey estimates the quantum market could hit $100 billion annually in the next decade. While IonQ sees a lot of retail interest, the article argues it is too expensive and risky as a pure play.
Instead, it points to Microsoft and IBM. Microsoft is working on a chip to scale systems to 1 million qubits and can distribute the tech through Azure. IBM has already generated over $1 billion in quantum revenue and their Qiskit software has 13 million downloads. Both offer exposure to the sector without the volatility of a pure play.

i really like ionq's tech but the volatility is definitely a bit scary. microsoft and ibm just feel like more solid long-term holds for a regular portfolio.

IonQ is cool tech, but Microsoft and IBM feel safer for steady long-term growth.
