Empire Q2 earnings: Sales up 2.8%, but EPS drops to $0.69
Empire (EMP.A) released their Q2 results today. EPS came in at $0.69, down from $0.73 last year. Net earnings also dropped to $159M compared to $173M previously.
Sales were up 2.8% to roughly $8B, with same-store food sales growing 2.5%. Fuel sales were down 6%, mostly due to lower prices. Management noted their internal food inflation is running lower than the CPI.
They're planning to spend about $850M in fiscal 2026 on renovations and new stores, plus a big migration to SAP for their ERP system. Dividend declared at $0.22 per share.
