Trump allowing Nvidia to ship H200 chips to China with 25% government cut
Trump announced that Nvidia can resume exporting advanced H200 AI chips to China. The catch is that the US government gets a 25% cut of the sales, which is up from the 15% rate discussed last summer.
It represents a shift in policy, though there are still questions about whether Beijing will actually let Chinese companies buy them given their push for self-sufficiency. Nvidia hasn't built these potential sales into their forecasts yet due to the regulatory uncertainty.
Separately, Nvidia's CFO pushed back on AI bubble concerns. She noted they are seeing robust demand with a $25 billion increase in inventory and commitments. Analysts currently have an average price target of $252 compared to the current $183.

Wild move, gets back into China but now Uncle Sam wants a 25% slice. Short-term revenue boost? For sure. But between DC politics and China’s push for homegrown chips, this whole setup feels like walking a tightrope. If either side changes their mind, the deal evaporates overnight. High upside, high geopolitical headache.
