Quantum tech funding hitting $33B in 2025 despite low revenue
A new report estimates global investment in quantum technology will hit $33.3 billion in 2025, compared to just $1.9 billion in market revenue. That is a 17:1 ratio of spending to earnings. Most of the money, about 70%, is going into foundational hardware and materials rather than commercial applications. The US and China are dominating the space and account for 61% of total funding combined.
Venture capital is also ramping up with roughly $2 billion invested early in the year. The data suggests the focus right now is entirely on long-term R&D and securing supply chains rather than immediate profits. Infrastructure seems to be the play before the tech goes mainstream.
