AT&T is collaborating with AST SpaceMobile to expand network coverage into remote and rural locations. ASTS recently launched the Bluebird 6 satellite and AT&T activated a new ground gateway to support the system. The plan is to begin beta testing with select customers and FirstNet users in the first half of 2026. Competition is picking up in this sector. T-Mobile is working with Starlink and started their own beta testing in 2024. Verizon also signed an agreement with ASTS to use its spectrum for satellite coverage.
