New AI startup aims to speed up drug discovery with automated molecule synthesis
Two founders from Carnegie Mellon and MIT just launched Onepot AI, aiming to make drug discovery much faster by automating the creation of difficult-to-make molecules. Their platform uses AI and robotic labs to synthesize compounds much faster and cheaper than traditional methods. The company says this could let pharma and biotech companies access a broader range of possible drug compounds, potentially opening up new avenues for treatments that were previously skipped due to synthesis challenges. They just came out of stealth with $13 million in funding from investors like Khosla Ventures and OpenAI’s Wojciech Zaremba, and are now expanding with a new lab in San Francisco.
